Mike Ritchie, School Board Administrator to be at Eagle River Roasters March 17

This is our community's chance to discuss education with our NPSD Administrator, Mike Ritchie.  In light of current events including Doyle's Sex Ed Bill that now requires specific inclusions for all Wisconsin public schools that choose to teach a health education courses:

Quoted from the Journal/Sentinel Online:
Madison —
Sex education classes in Wisconsin public schools will have to teach students about birth control and sexually transmitted diseases under a bill Gov. Jim Doyle signed Wednesday.  http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/85213817.html
Also on the forefront is the Textbook debate in Texas, where the Texas State Board of Education is debating a 10-year curriculum plan that will dictate the format of new social studies textbooks, which could potentially eliminate the mention of certain segments of American History!

The Dallas Morning News:  Texas standards often wind up in thousands of schools in other states as textbook publishers tailor their books to those standards, then market those learning materials across the nation.  http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/politics/state/stories/DN-sboe_11tex.ART0.State.Edition1.4bf3039.html

Here's an opportunity to discuss local issues that can affect the future of our county.  Let's see how the Northland Pines School District is handling these situations at the local level.  What will your sons, daughters and grandchildren be learning in their Heath Ed and Social Studies/ History Courses now and in the years to come?

Thank you - glad you like it! Mike's Coffee Klatches are wonderful opportunities to stay in touch with our schools and be watchdogs for our children.
