Senate refused to pass an amendent that would prohibit fed funded abortions

Breaking news out of Washington:  The Senate has voted down (54-45) the amendment prohibiting the federal funding - your tax dollars - of abortion within health care reform legislation.  View my latest video report immediately!

Media Player Image We've been engaged in this issue from the very start, as you know - and simply put, this rejection of such a critical pro-life measure is a callous disregard for the protection of innocent human life.

Just a few weeks ago, the House passed the Stupak-Pitts Amendment - calling for a prohibition of abortion funding.  But now, in the Senate, by a handful of votes, a similar amendment brought by Senators Ben Nelson and Orrin Hatch has failed.

The ACLJ's Government Affairs team, as always, is right in the middle of the fight to preserve life ... and that battle continues.

The next step?  We'll have one more chance to defeat abortion funding in health care legislation during what's called the ''Joint Reconciliation'' process.
