DID YOUR DEAD UNCLE VOTE IN 2008?

In the 2008 election, Barb Struck of Ozaukee County discovered that her deceased mother’s name was still on the polling list.  In an attempt to have her mother’s name removed she discovered her mother voted in a previous election after she had passes away!  What a surprise, her mother was always determined but this was beyond the pale!  So Barb went about getting the name taken off the list and after communicating with the Government Accountability Board, the name was finally removed.

Now it’s your turn, do you know someone who may still be listed on the state voter registration list and shouldn’t be?  There is an easy way to find out; this is how you do it:

There is a very valuable tool on the internet called “VPA” – Voter Public Access (https://vpa.wi.gov ).  By entering a name and birthdate you can check the voting status of your mother, father, children, aunts, uncles, all of your family and friends, living, deceased, or those who have moved to another area.  Who knows, you may discover that someone who died or moved out of state is still voting!   If so, call your municipal clerk (Google: “wis municipal clerks” for name and contact information) and have the incorrect name removed from the list.  If the “name” is in another municipality call the Government Accountability Board at 608-266-8005.

While you’re at it, why don’t you call your municipal clerk or GAB and ask them for all the names registered at your address?  If there are incorrect names, ask them to have them removed. 

IMPORTANT:  In both of the above scenarios, if you have found an incorrect registration, you can ask if that “name” voted in any of the last elections.  Or you can enter the name and birthdate into https://vpa.wi.gov , click on the name, scroll down to “View Your Voting History” and determine if this “name” voted in past elections. 

If there was a vote, A FELONY has been committed.  We encourage you to file a criminal complaint at your local district attorney’s office.  Make sure your D.A. copies you, as well as Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen. 

Right now, there are 70,000 names on the statewide voter registration list that have failed the required identification checks, but the Government Accountability Board is hesitant to take these names off because they might “disenfranchise” someone.  Never mind the fact that these people could simply reregister if their names were removed in error.  Names that no longer should be on the list are still “active” and can be used by those who do not play by the rules. 

Citizens, this is a “call to arms.”  Barb has done her part, now it’s your turn!

He will share his thoughts on issues confronting Wisconsin citizens and the upcoming elections. The event will be held at Butch and Kim Simac's farm and is being co-hosted by many Vilas and Oneida County citizens who are grateful to JB for his hard work and dedication.

"At a time when so many elected officials are proving to be a disappointent to voters, JB Van Hollen is like a breath of fresh air" says Kim Simac, one of the hosts for the event. "JB has been making tough decisions and standing firm on so many issues coming to the table resulting in an overwhelming amount of respect and support for him across the state."

Ron Johnson is NOT Dave Westlake

The media has reported that there are not many differences between Wisconsin US Senate candidates Dave Westlake and Ron Johnson…however there is a CLEAR distinction between the two that is becoming more and more evident as the race goes on.  In the upcoming general election against Feingold it is absolutely vital that whoever wins the primary is the right person to replace him - and the right person should be a strong conservative who can provide leadership in Washington.  In the past two months that Ron Johnson has been in the race I have developed many concerns about his ability to lead for the people and maintain the level of consistent conservatism that our country so desperately needs.

Wisconsin Right to Life recently endorsed Ron Johnson, citing that he is the candidate who can best defeat Feingold, rather than stating that he is the candidate that best matches their organizations views - because he clearly doesn’t.  Johnson allows exceptions (rape, incest, life of the mother in danger) while Westlake has advocated that he is 100% pro-life with no exceptions.  Allowing exceptions calls into question the reason why we don’t allow abortions in the first place.  Westlake’s views on abortion are much more on par with conservative values.

Another key issue that Westlake and Johnson don’t have the same perspective on is the 2nd Amendment.

When asked about the 2nd Amendment Johnson’s answers have continued to be disturbingly out of touch with what the founding fathers meant when they wrote the Bill of Rights.  Johnson, who has made it clear that he “has never hunted” and is not a gun owner, said he had not given the issue “a lot of thought.”  He has also said that while he supports the 2nd Amendment, he also supports licensing.  Johnson stated,  “Like we license cars and stuff, I don’t have a problem with minimal licensing and stuff.”  This is dangerous territory - licensing does not impact crime rates and makes it significantly easier for the government to collect firearms should they ever wish to disarm the American public.  The 2nd Amendment was included to allow for citizens to keep their government in check - and that is something that Johnson doesn’t appear to understand.  Not to mention I would really like to hear what the “and stuff” is referring to.  Westlake has repeatedly said that the right to bear arms is about liberty (not hunting), his website states, “if the government disarms the public through unconstitutional regulations, it does more than just leave innocent, law-abiding citizens exposed to criminals–it takes the first dangerous step towards justifying infringement upon any number of our other rights.”  Westlake also does not support the ban on assault rifles.  When Johnson was asked if he supported the assault rifle ban he said he had no position, as he was not a gun owner.  Johnson’s lack of comprehension of the 2nd Amendment is discouraging and uncharacteristic of a strong conservative.

The Constitution is by far the most important document - not just to any elected official - but to ALL Americans.  It is our responsibility to know our rights and we should expect our government to understand and value the constitution.  Johnson said, “I will say, prior to doing this, I sat down and read the Constitution thoroughly, probably five, six times. It is not an easy document to read. Unless you study it in detail, it’s hard to study. “  Johnson was unable to name the Federal agencies he would consider unconstitutional - perhaps because he doesn’t really understand the Constitution - and that is frightening when you consider the fact that he is asking us to send him to Washington, to give him the responsibility of upholding the Constitution.   Once again, Westlake is shown to be the true conservative in this race - as not only does he consistently push for constitutionally-based leadership but refers to the constitution as a “straightforward document.” He can easily name the institutions he considers unconstitutional, (Department of Energy, Department of Education, most of the EPA to name a few).

The Patriot Act is another issue that Westlake and Johnson disagree on. Johnson believes that the Patriot Act is a necessary tool that is being used to keep America safe from terrorism.   Westlake believes that while the Patriot Act was necessary after 9/11, it has failed to keep us safe and is a threat to civil liberties.

There is nothing more infuriating to conservatives than illegal immigration.  Westlake has stated that immigration reform has failed because of a lack of leadership in Washington - that we need to start taking it seriously and document and deport those who are here illegally.  In regards to illegal immigration, it can be assumed that Johnson and Westlake share similar views with one major exception - Johnson has stated that he backs REAL ID, which infringes on the rights of Americans and imposes unnecessary financial burden, without improving national security.

Recently Feingold and Johnson have been trading insults back and forth about Great Lakes drilling.  While it appears that Johnson supported drilling in the Great Lakes originally, his campaign released a statement saying he has never been for it.  If Johnson is in fact, against Great Lakes drilling, it is alarming that he was unable to clearly address the issue from the start.  This has obviously given Feingold a major opportunity to discredit him, and has made Johnson look like he is inconsistent.

Above all - the biggest difference between these candidates is the way they run their campaigns.  Johnson appeared on the scene a week before the convention and received the party’s endorsement.  He was thrust into the political limelight without having “given thought” to many important issues.  His focus is on the party elite - the private meet and greets, the meetings at The Madison Club, the GOP sponsored events…he is ignoring the every day Wisconsinites that don’t have $2400 to donate to his campaign.  He prefers to run television ads instead of shaking hands.  When asked why he is running for Senate his answer straight out of the gate was - “I was watching FOX News and, uh, Dick Morris came on. He was talking about, uh, hey Russ Feingold is really, really vulnerable. Hey, if you’re a rich guy in the state of Wisconsin maybe you ought to decide to run.”  Of course his consultants have altered that quite a bit since he first entered the race.

Johnson is also known for rudely walking away from people who he feels won’t vote for him - even republicans!  With over 50% of voters undecided, it is impossible that Johnson will get enough votes to defeat Feingold if he doesn’t start spending time with Independents and Democrats - and even Republicans - who will challenge him with tough questions.  A Senator is supposed to represent the people - not the party.
Which brings me to Dave Westlake.  Westlake is clearly the underdog in this race- but not because he lacks passion, or principles or a clear understanding of the issues and how to fix them.  In fact, Westlake is extremely qualified as a West Point graduate and army veteran with an impressive MBA from the University of Chicago.  The reason Westlake is considered an underdog is because he is not a  millionaire and he is not raising and spending millions on getting his message out there - instead he is relying mostly on face-to-face interaction with ALL voters.  At a time when our country is facing such economic hardship,  it is revolting and irresponsible for candidates to be dumping money into political campaigns.  Westlake runs his campaign like I believe he would run Washington - without excess and unnecessary spending.  He also has the ability to get an overwhelming amount of support from Democrats and Independents - because he takes the time to speak to everyone, regardless of what political party they identify with.  The independent vote is absolutely vital to defeating Feingold - and Westlake can get it.  He is genuinely running because he wants to serve his country - and the people, ALL the people, of Wisconsin, not just the Republicans.

Money will NOT defeat Feingold.  He has a clear advantage against Johnson because he is able to run as the “every man’s” candidate because he is not “wealthy.”  Johnson lacks substance and knowledge - the only things he has going for him is a negative ad campaign and money.  Westlake is a true conservative who actually GETS it.  Now is the time to change the way we run our campaigns - now is the time to change Washington - and it all starts with ONE candidate - ONE candidate who is brave enough to stand up to the establishment and refuse to back down.   We cannot expect things to change when we elect the same type of people year after year… millionaires and career politicians are not the people I want representing me anymore. It is time that we stop complaining about not being able to trust politicians in Washington and start taking ACTION - and elect people based on what they stand for - not whether they have millions to spend on a campaign.  If we don’t change the way we campaign and change the way we vote - we will NEVER fix this country.

Harsh Realities of Voter Protection Act - We must speak out now!

Well-written summary of the Voter Protection Act by Wisconsin Family Action:

With the 2009-10 Legislative Session ending next week, the State Legislature is attempting to push through a massive bill that would radically change Wisconsin’s current election law…and not for the better.

The Democratic Majority in the legislature is fast-tracking AB 895/SB 640, a bill that is meant to tip the scales in favor of, ultimately, more voter fraud, which would in turn, apparently, tip the scales in favor of the Democratic Majority in the legislature.

Here are a few of our issues with the 72-page proposed legislation:

Automatic voter registration. The bill creates automatic voter registration using the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) records for DOT operator’s licenses or identification cards. Wisconsin’s election division, the so-called Government Accountability Board (GAB), would automatically register to vote all eligible individuals using the DOT’s files. Those automatic registrations could then be confirmed online, of all things. So someone could be registered by the state government to vote and then confirmed by someone else online! And no signature is required for voter registration.

Permanent absentee voting. The bill allows individuals to register to permanently receive absentee ballots for every election. Municipalities must then mail the absentee ballots to those individuals every year until a ballot is not returned for one year (two years in the substitute amendment). In addition to opening the door for voter fraud, this provision is an unfunded mandate for municipalities.

No signature required. The bill would remove the requirement that absentee ballots be certified and witnessed, removing safeguards against absentee ballot fraud, and the ability to legally defend or challenge an absentee ballot.

Challenging electors. The bill requires that challenging electors, i.e. “poll watchers,” would have to be from the same ward as the voter he/she challenges. The substitute amendment loosens that requirement to the county level. Challenging electors could do nothing to challenge a fraudulent vote, under the bill, unless they could verify they were from the same ward! The challenger would be required to provide identification but the challenged voter would not!

Conspicuously missing: Voter ID. Nowhere in the bill.

Wisconsin's Attorney General, J.B. Van Hollen, made the following statement concerning AB 895/SB 640: “the changes proposed in this bill neither enhance the right to vote nor protect against fraud. Instead, they make election fraud more likely, chill the lawful exercise of speech that is at the core of the First Amendment, and jeopardize the orderly administration of election laws.” No kidding!

Your State Legislators need to hear from you on this dangerous bill! Both the Assembly and Senate version of the bill are ready to be scheduled for a floor vote in both houses next week. Time is of the essence.

Believe me, it is no coincidence that the Democrats are trying to fast-track this legislation at the last moment in order to implement it before the crucial fall elections. We need to hold them accountable for this attempt to disenfranchise voters!

Breaking News! A Wisconsin federal district judge just struck down the National Day of Prayer (NDP) statute! Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation brought the case against the statute, claiming the NDP violates the so-called "separation of church and state."  President Obama would have to appeal the decision.

Protest Takeover of Wisconsin Elections - April 13, Eagle River

Northwoods Patriots and Concerned Citizens to Stage Protest -  Senate Bill 640 and Assembly Bill 895 - Takeover of Wisconsin Elections -  scheduled to be voted on this month in Madison

On Tuesday, April 13, 2010, numerous Northwoods Patriots and concerned citizens will gather in Eagle River to protest the proposed takeover of Wisconsin elections as set forth in Senate Bill 640, and Assembly Bill 895, that may be scheduled to be voted on this week in Madison. The group will meet from 2:45 pm to 3.45 pm in the parking lot behind the Century 21 - Burkett Real Estate office on the corner of Hwy 45 and Wall Street in Eagle River, located next to Walgreens and across from the Friendship House Restaurant.

“We are appalled and shocked that our own Senator Jim Holperin would be one of the authors of this bill.” stated Kim Simac, leader of the Northwoods Patriots. “This is outrageous and I think he has some real explaining to do. I emailed him on the subject last week and still have not received a reply. Aside from the fact that this bill is introducing legislation that will open the floodgates to voter fraud in the state of Wisconsin and add unfunded financial burdens to local municipalities, it is being ram-rodded through the state legislature with virtually little or no time for Wisconsin citizens to learn about it, let alone voice their opinion.”

This bill was introduced on March 23, 2010. On April 9th it was passed out of committee and scheduled for a vote by the full Senate prior to recess in Mid April. As of today's date this 72-page bill could be scheduled for a vote as early as this Thursday, April 15th.

The most alarming changes of the bill include:

The bill allows municipalities to set up satellite absentee ballot stations for early voting - including outside of bars.

In addition, permanent absentee ballot status would be established in which ballots would be sent to people who historically do not vote in low-turnout elections. This would mean not only putting an additional financial burden on municipalities, but even more importantly, create a system for voting where there are few if any checks to verify who actually returns the ballots. Currently, permanent absentee ballot status is restricted to people who are confined because of age, physical illness, infirmity, or disability.

The current open government practice of allowing any citizen to challenge individual ballots would end as monitoring of elections of statewide or national significance would be restricted to people who live within that polling district.

University ID's would be allowed as proof of residency. The problem is that these same students could be registered at their home addresses as well, allowing them to vote in both districts. Since it has become well known that ACORN, and like-minded special interest groups equally illicit, even pays college students to vote, this leaves the state wide open for voter fraud on campuses.

Another provision would automatically register everyone to vote when they renew their driver's licenses. While this sounds convenient, it is an unimpeded path to election fraud for there will be no way to ensure that anyone who knows a name and address doesn't just walk up to a voting booth and cast a vote. Plus, there is no system in place to manage the transfer of voter registrations like this when people move. This provision leaves us wide open and extremely vulnerable to voter fraud.

The bill proposes to set up a statewide database of voters that the authors said they would hope to link up to a national database. In fact, the liberal Democrats are using Wisconsin as the launch pad for this new voting scheme, planning to roll it out nationwide once it passes in Wisconsin.

“This is a shocking power grab of some extremist Democrats who are trying to change our laws so that more unqualified voters are able to vote and so that we are not able to determine whether or not voting fraud in fact took place.” stated Senator Glenn Grothman, 20th Senate District, who also has vowed to fight against Senate Bill 640 and Assembly Bill 895. “Ironically, the one voting change that most Wisconsin citizens request, a Voter ID, is about the only thing not included in this far-reaching bill that is being fast-tracked through the State Legislature” he added.

Integrity of the Ballot Under Attack

Grothman Rips Democratic Extremists for Trying to Push

Radical 72-Page Bill Through Elections Committee Less than 16 Hours After Hearing

Today, Senator Glenn Grothman vowed to fight Senate Bill 640, a bill which radically changes Wisconsin election law going into this year’s election. The 72-page bill was not even introduced until March 23.
Senate Bill 640 makes many changes to Wisconsin election law including the following:

The bill allows municipalities to set up satellite absentee ballot stations for early voting. These stations apparently could be done in college dorms, outside of bars, or other inappropriate locals.

2) The current open government practice of allowing any citizen to challenge individual ballots would end as monitoring of elections of statewide or national significance would be restricted to people who live within that polling district.

3) Permanent absentee ballot status would be established in which ballots would be sent to people who historically do not vote in low-turnout elections. Currently, permanent absentee ballot status is restricted to people who are confined because of age, physical illness, infirmity, or disabled infinitely making them unable to get to the polls.

4) University IDs could be offered as proof of residence for registration and voting.

5) The increased cost of processing and mailing out the additional absentee ballots is an unfunded mandate that local municipalities will not be able to absorb.

6) Local municipalities will be forced to hire speakers of a foreign language if at least 5% of the adults in their district are not English proficient.

7) The bill proposes to set up a statewide database of voters that the authors said they would hope to link up to a national database.

“This is a shocking power grab some extremist Democrats are trying to change our laws so that more unqualified voters are able to vote and so that we are not able to determine whether or not voting fraud in fact took place,” said Grothman. “That is clearly the motivation behind trying to have a much larger number of permanent absentee voters as well as preventing an individual outside a polling place to object to inappropriate voting.”

“Ironically, the voting change that most Wisconsin citizens request, Voter ID, is about the only thing not included in this far-reaching bill that is being fast-tracked through the State Legislature,” said Grothman.

Do Not Collect $8.5 Billion

During the 2008 Presidential election America was introduced to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, commonly known as ACORN. We’ve learned that members and employees of that organization and it’s more than 230 affiliated organizations have been investigated and charged with numerous crimes across the country ranging from voter registration fraud to financial mismanagement and embezzlement.

Recently investigative journalists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles have come forward with undercover videotaped interviews, posted on biggovernment.com, which they conducted in ACORN offices in Baltimore, Washington, New York, San Bernadino and San Diego.

In these investigations the journalists posed as a pimp and a prostitute. ACORN members explained to the journalists how they could go about obtaining funding to buy a house that they would then use as a brothel, and how to claim underage teenage prostitutes as tax dependents. One ACORN member even went so far as to offer to assist the journalists in bringing teenage illegal aliens into the country to work as prostitutes. Another ACORN member revealed how she killed her husband.

In light of these reports linking ACORN to potentially criminal activity, on September 14 the U.S. Senate passed Senate Amendment 2355 to H.R. 3288 (the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2010), prohibiting the use of federal funds to fund the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) by a vote of 83-7 (roll call vote 275).

Now the question comes before the U.S. House of Representatives. H.R. 3571, the Defund ACORN Act, has been introduced by House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) to stop federal funding of ACORN once and for all. This legislation would prohibit the federal government from awarding contracts, grants, or other agreements to, providing any other federal funds to ACORN.

As of September 17, this legislation already had 144 co-sponsors.

Additionally, a letter signed by 130 House Republicans has been sent to President Obama, asking him to take action to publicly disclose and terminate all taxpayer funding of ACORN.

House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Ways & Means Committee Ranking Member Dave Camp (R-MI) have urged the IRS to end any referrals to ACORN offices for tax preparation consultations.

The Census Bureau has announced it will end its partnership with ACORN in conducting the 2010 Census.

An analysis of federal data by Republican Leader Boehner’s staff determined that just 73 ACORN-affiliated organizations have received more than $53 million in direct funding from the federal government since 1994, and has likely received substantially more indirectly through states and localities that receive federal block grants.

ACORN-affiliated organizations are currently eligible to receive more than $8.5 Billion in federal taxpayer funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

It’s time to act. It’s time to contact your Congressman. Tell them it’s time to sever ACORN’s umbilical cord to the U.S. Taxpayer. Do not pass go. Do not collect $8.5 Billion.

UPDATE: On September 17 H.R. 3571, the Defund ACORN Act, was adopted as part of H.R. 3221, the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009. The House voted 345-75 to pass the legislation (roll call vote 718).

Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board and Election Administration Council are considering a five-year plan for voting in Wisconsin that will cost taxpayers upwards of $17.2 million and includes controversial changes such as early voting. The Republican Party of Wisconsin has emphasized the need to maintain the integrity of the vote and promotes measures such as Voter ID to ensure no valid votes are cancelled out.

The Wisconsin Federation of Republican Women has also been a leader on the issue of Voter ID measures, and were successful in advocating for the inclusion of Voter ID consideration at the Wisconsin Election Administration Council five-year plan meeting on Tuesday. Voter Registration and Voting Fraud

 

Our 2nd meeting of the Republican Women of the North was held today at Eagle River Inn with 35 in attendance for the lunch. Women from the Waukesha County Women's Federation came north to speak to us about their experiences during the 2008 election and how we can get involved to protect the integrity of future elections in our area and around the state. They are explained just how prevalent voter fraud and registration fraud is in our state, including absentee voting, early voting, and open registration problems.

 

The gals from Waukesha explained their initiative "We're Watching." Their goal is to educate Wisconsin GOPs about the crimes being commited and urge them to become involved in the process by volunteering as poll workers, register voters, and train to become election observers.

They invited all from our group to join them in Madison on June 22 for Women's Legislative Day. Women from across the state will tour the capital, Government Accountability Board, Supreme Court and time to visit legislators' offices.

Stop Government Funding of Acorn Petition

The Petition

Since 1994, ACORN has received more than $53 million in direct federal funding. And, over the years, ACORN and its employees have also been the subject of investigations, indictments, and consent decrees in states all across the nation for election-related activities that run afoul of the law.

This isn’t a political witch hunt, as many Democrats claim. The prosecutors who have brought the charges against ACORN and its employees are both Republican and Democrat. They’re doing their jobs, enforcing the law and protecting the integrity of the voting process.

Yet even as fresh charges were being filed against ACORN and its employees in Nevada and Pennsylvania, Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives worked to protect the stream of tax dollars to this organization. They stripped down language that I had put in a mortgage reform bill (HR 1728) – language that would have ensured that Congress sets a high bar for who has access to your tax dollars.

Congress and the Administration have been on a spending spree with your money, racking up trillion dollar deficits for years down the road. If Congress can’t draw the line here – if they can’t say that an organization repeatedly charged with violating the law and public trust should not have access to federal funds – where will they draw the line?

They will share with us how we can become trained and certified by the state to register voters and combat the crimes of election fraud and voter fraud.
