Harry Reid should heed the words of Martin Luther King

Harry Reid's racially-insensitive remark about the color of Barack Obama's skin should be abhorrent to every decent American. Democrats are defending Senator Reid (D-NV) even though he opposes Martin Luther King's dream of a color-blind society:
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
While campaigning for re-election in 1956, Vice President Richard Nixon (R-CA) declared:

"Most of us will live to see the day when American boys and girls will sit, side by side, at any school - public or private - with no respect paid to the color of skin. Segregation, discrimination and prejudice have no place in America."

Martin Luther King voted for the Republican presidential ticket, Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon. King announced his vote during a public meeting in Ghana, where they were attending a presidential inauguration. Vice President Nixon helped defeat the Democrat filibuster against the GOP's 1957 Civil Rights Act.

Mr. Zak is a popular speaker to Republican organizations around the nation, showing office- holders and candidates and activists how they would benefit tremendously from appreciating the heritage of our Grand Old Party. Back to Basics for the Republican Party is his acclaimed history of the GOP, cited by Clarence Thomas in a Supreme Court decision. His Grand Old Partisan blog celebrates more than fifteen decades of Republican heroes and heroics.

My new website is Grand Old Partisan, celebrating more than fifteen decades of Republican heroes and heroics.  Zak's newly redesigned web site is full of Republican history, outlining how Republicans championed civil rights since the earliest days fighting against slavery and through various civil rights acts to ensure equality for all our citizens.
